The Popular American Saddlebred

The American Saddlebred is a breed of horse first produced in the American state of Kentucky. Now they are present in many showring events, and they are also to be found in racing, parades, and hunts.

Saddlebred Characteristics:
These horses boast a temperament which makes them decent in virtually every job in which they are desired. They are also well known for their endurance and the facility to grasp tuition quickly.

The Saddlebred horse is exceptionally intuitive and devoted. It is flashy horse and steps high, commonly spoken of as “peacocks of the show horses.”  The ideal American Saddlebred is one that has brilliant dimensions and is beautiful. They are charcterised by eyes which are large and are sharp, and charcteristic ears which have a superb shape. The Saddlebred is renowned for possessing a head which is perfectly balanced to its body.

Saddlebreds are also famous for withers that are prominent and muscular shoulders.

Saddlebreds are also well-known for being five gaited, a characteristic which was passed down from their ancestors.

Saddlebred Ancestry:
This breed was first developed in the eighteenth century by the Americans who bred the Thoroughbred horse with a Narragansett Pacer. The Pacer was a well known breed at the time, though many people are unaware of it at present. Many people who lived on plantations often used American Saddlebreds since they were comfortable and also had a fabulous gait. Nowadays they have become an extremely trendy horse. These horses are very popular  in the state of Kentucky.

Saddlebred horses work very well using harnesses and have plenty of strength to carry out farm work. Their speed also enables them to be used in certain forms of horse racing. In the middle of the C18, the DNA from the Morgan horse were introduced to give the American Saddlebred additional power and pace. It was this mixture with the Thoroughbred horse that permitted the American Saddlebred horse to be developed. They were increasingly sought after post 1940. ‘Denmark’, a stallion, was born in 1939, and approximately sixty percent of all American Saddlebreds today decend from this one horse.

American Saddlebreds are some of the most admired breeds of horses throughout the world, and have been kept by generals, presidents, and other prominent figures. They have also been featuring in several video productions. These horses are well known in the showing circle.

To summarise, American Saddlebreds are amongst of the most well known and accepted breeds within the United States. Their beautiful looks and charming personality have made them looked for by countless horse lovers.
