There is no doubt that a pet that bites is a huge problem and can even become a serious problem. There are actually some differences between your dog biting you hand and mouthing it. Mouthing isn’t normally considered as an aggressive behavior. Still tocurb this behavior problem right away would be a wise choice.

Poor training, a lack of training and little socialization in the early years could lead to a dog that bites. Obedience training should begin immediately to try and stop your dog from biting.

Stop Dog Biting

Chew Toy

Dogs and puppies need to chew. If they are given a toy they won’t feel like they have to chew your hands (or chairs, or shoe or papers..). If your pet attempts to chew your hands say –no- firmly and give a chew toy in its place.

Just Don’t Play

If your pup should bite or nip at your hands, form a loud yelp and then cease playtime. If done right away your dog or pup will begin to learn biting is wrong and playing is finished.

Learn The Cause

Is your pet, who is normally docile, all of a sudden showing the aggression signs? If this is the case then something has happened to create the sudden change. It is possible your dog could have come up with a medical problem or a tramatic event could have occurred. If this aggressive behavior has always been with your dog then he could have been abused way back when or he was just never socialized.

Try to get the medical problem ruled out and then you can get into the retraining of your pet.

If you are working with an older pet that has biting issues, this behavior will be more difficult to break and could take quite a bit of time. With technology the way it is you can get some home training methods that may begin to work right away.
