Society as we know it has developed a great dependence on dogs! We do not use dogs merely for companionship. Dogs are loyal companions and guards of our families and businesses. Service dogs provide for the needs of not only the blind, but for a variety of people with health issues that prevent them from accomplishing the tasks that we then assign to their dogs. Canines are very good at learning tasks that make them both hard workers and loyal companions. Our police use dogs in law enforcement and in this case the dog is totally dedicating their life to work just as the officer is that is their handler. They also make sure they bring the appropriate dog travel products when cruising the streets.

Dogs are used in the military in much the same manner. You’ve probably noticed that dogs have a place in entertainment as well. They are used for commercials, TV shows, and movies. Think about how many times you’ve seen a dog in the movies! They are highly trainable and will gladly show off what they learn. But they also love to relax, chewing on tuffies dog toys, and just enjoying being a dog. Also, dogs are showcased in dog events and shows worldwide. These dogs show either excellence in skill or have an exactness of the breed characteristics. This too provides entertainment for the audience and a devotion to the chosen breed. Each dog breed has different characteristics then the next, making them more suitable for different jobs.

However, all dogs are suitable for the job of companion! This is a job the dog takes on in addition to any other job given. Dogs thrive on approval, so they will do what is necessary to get the job done. Their greatest reward is the words “Good Dog” and the greatest reprimand that can be given is “Bad Dog”. Every dog loves a tasty treat, but just saying a kind word or giving them a pat on the head is all they truly want. This can be something given by adults as well as children. That is probably why we grow up loving our dogs and later have dogs as part of our families when we are grown and have children of our own. Then the happy cycle continues for the next generation.

One of the best things about owning a dog is that they can fix just about any problem you may have. If you’re sad, a dog is happy to comfort you, and let you rattle off all your problems to their ever available ears. If you’re full of energy, a dog is happy to take you for a run or walk, granted you bring portable dog bowls with you, speeding up or slowing town to your pace at any given moment. Dogs are always there to keep you company or play a game when you are lonely. There is a reason why a canine is known to be man’s best friend – they will always be there for you when you need them. Dogs are great for everyone – from children to the elderly to disabled people.

When my husband gets home from the office, the dog is more than likely to make him happy, even more so than my meatloaf. Our dog is named Cody, and he’s a Great Dane. His beautiful face seems to smile all the time, and his coat is so soft I will lay next to him on any one of the beds for large dogs we got for him. You can tell he has more energy than even I can believe, just by watching how much his tail wags. Although Cody can seem like a handful at times, since we must put groom him, feed him and take him for many walks, he loves to travel in cars so it’s easy to take him with on vacations.

I suppose it doesn’t matter that we treat Cody better than friends, because he is our responsibility and a part of the family; he repays us with love and joy that is difficult to find elsewhere.

One brand of highly digestible and low-fat fake pig ears are called Better than Ears. With healthy ingredients like soy flour and wheat bran, they really are better than pig’s ears. Dogs adore Better than Ears. They don’t last very long!

Here are some tips on how to give dog bones and when to not give them bones as dog chews. Never let your dog have chicken bones. They can become lodged in your dog’s throat or even splinter.

If you just can’t give up on rawhide dog treats, you can buy compressed rawhide, which is not dangerous like regular rawhide. The rawhide bone is dense due to compressed layers of beef hide. This type will last up to five times longer than regular rawhide dog bones.

Check the ingredients and take a look at the bones when you’re buying dog treats for your little buddy. They are not healthy for your dog if they look greasy to you. It’s a good idea to watch your dog whenever you give him a new type of dog bone to chew on. Throw it away if you see splinters or some other reason that it may be dangerous for your dog.
