Of the various types of aggression issue dogs may have, aggression towards people tops the list as the worst of these issues. If a dog is already displaying aggression towards people, it could easily become a biter and cause serious injuries to a visitor to your home or even a family member.

Your dog’s aggression towards people can be reconditioned by using only positive conditioning to  reverse his problem and create a bond of trust and confidence between you and your dog.

Do not let your aggressive dog run loose until you have retrained him not to be aggressive towards people. Keep your aggressive dog inside a fenced yard or on a lead so that he cannot run loose and possibly attack somebody passing by.

To correct your dog’s aggression towards people, use the following training advice. To get started, bring your dog with you on a visit to a friend of yours-someone who maybe your dog already knows may work best. By meeting away from your dog’s own territory, you are decreasing some of his aggressive tendencies. You should already have put your dog’s leash on before you start the training. The leash gives you the control you will need in case your dog decides to lunge at your friend. In case your dog does act aggressively towards your friend,  you should immediately calm him down with a firm “no” and put him back into his sit position. However, do not yell at your dog or punish him for this aggression. Doing that will only negatively impact your training efforts, by keeping your dog tense.

You do not want to pet or praise him till he is sitting in a calm and relaxed way. If he is doing the right thing, sitting in a relaxed posture, now is the right time to reinforce him with praise and a treat. This way you are using positive reinforcement to show him you are very pleased with what he is doing right now-which is nothing but sitting and acting calmly and not aggressive towards people. When your dog shows any aggression at all, you must repeat this step to get it to eventually sink in. The positive conditioning works because you are gradually desensitizing your dog’s fear of people and his response of aggression towards them.

You will have to give your dog repeated training sessions for this training to work. Once he has become relaxed around the friend you began the training with, you can begin introducing  him to other people until he shows he can relax when meeting anyone new.

Start the training by introducing your dog to 1 new person at a time. too many people could make it difficult for your dog to relax. Once your dog has shown he can remain calm when meeting a variety of new people one on one, you may increase the amount of people around during the training. Of course, you want him to be comfortable around groups of people in every social situation, so he can be part of the family.

If you use these steps your dog’s aggression towards people will be corrected, and he will finally be around people without feeling like someone may abuse him. Not only is the training going to help your dog, you will finally have a pet that you know won’t be a problem and a hazard to your family and visitors, and you can begin to enjoy your dog’s company a lot more.  Now a walk with your dog in public will be fun instead of a challenge.

I know due to experience that even the best dogs are not always well behaved and do have behaviour problems.  Just imagine trying to deal with 2 English mastiffs, and a little Yorkie Poo.  They are next to impossible to handle when they’re all together which is reasonably frequently.  However, you can learn the tips that I did and how I found out a way to control my dogs better than I have ever managed to before!  Some of the things I am going to tell you about is coaching, positive beefing up, and consulting with your vet to reign out possible health problems. 

One of the first things that I had to do to help me out with my dogs was find a dog teaching program.  My husband was not to avid on the idea, but after they were obedience trained he was quite happy because they were no longer dragging him through the yard.  So that small coaching helped fantastically.  I think that training can help dogs of any age or size.  They can even help with dog behaviour issues. 

The next thing that I did to help address my dog behavior problems were to begin with positive re-strengthening.  I know that could be a easy psychological issue to address the problems, but it does work reasonably well.  I discovered that when they misbehave if I ignore them and not show any affection of any sort towards the dog it manages to switch their angle quite quickly.  Most dogs do love having attention given to them and without that attention then they typically will correct the naughty behavior quickly .  However, you should remember that when the dog does something good you have to give them love right away.  I usually give a pat on the chest which according to classes that I have went to makes them feel pleased with what they did.  I’ve used treats as a reward at certain times mainly when coaching them to come after I let them off of the leash. 

While those solutions often work for working with your dogs behaviour you might have to consult with your vet to help address the issues.  I’ve had to do that for my pussy even because her behaviour is so terrible.  Occasionally as is the case with my cat he prescribed medicine for her.  That would be what your dog needs to correct any behaviour issues that keep repeated.  Remember that your often your dogs behavior might be due to health problems so be sure to check with your vet before trying anything more. 

So if your dog is having behavior issues you can try a variety of things.  Some of those things include consulting with your vet about possible health problems, positive strengthening, and dog coaching.  A combination of all those things maybe needed which is what I had to do with my dogs.  Principally the training and positive re-strengthening which looked to help out the best since they were only puppies, but in your older dogs it maybe that they are experiencing health issues so you do have to consider the age of your dog before taking any steps to correct the behavior.

Remember that coaching your dog to curb it’s barking could be a long and drawn out process so it is very important to keep patient.  Believe me, when it comes to dog teaching, It will definitely pay out in the future that may make everybody in the family happy.

If you are a hobby chicken farmer, then you are looking at chicken coop designs and wondering how the children’s Easter chicks can turn into a backyard investment you hadn’t planned on. When my mom, dad, brother and I went to pick up our dog from the Corgi rescue in Kentucky, we did not know what to expect. We knew generally what she would look like, but we had no idea about her behavior or her strange little habits. But when we finally saw Maggie for the first time, she seemed to be full of energy, running around in her pen, barking at all of the other dogs and her coat was very thin and coarse. The lady who owned the rescue, Jean, recommended that to fix her coat we take her to get groomed immediately. Jean told us about two places. She told us about one office for dog grooming in Florence KY and another place for dog grooming in Hebron KY. We chose the Florence location just because it was closer and as soon as we got Maggie home we made her special appointment for her to be groomed.

On the day we were to take her to her appointment, Maggie knew she was going somewhere. We put her in the car and took her about ten minutes down the road to help give her a pretty, new coat . The lady who was ready to groom Maggie picked our dog up and placed her in the tub. And that is when everything commenced .

Maggie really did not like being in the bath , you could see it by the look in her eye. She looked very pitiful standing in the water while the nice lady cleaned her coat. Maggie did, however, like the lady who bathed her. Maggie warmed up to the groomer by licking her ear every time the woman leaned over to shampoo and rinsed the side that was facing away from the woman.

After her bath, Maggie was put on a table top to be dried and brushed. This was the first time my mom and I realized Maggie does not like any kind of electric household appliance. As soon as the blow dryer started Maggie got startled and tried to get off of the table. However, the groomer held her very nicely and tried to help our dog understand that everything was going to be alright.

Finally, after her fur was dried, the groomer began the best part for Maggie , brushing her fur. My mom and I found out on this trip to the groomer that Maggie thoroughly enjoys being brushed. She loves any kind of attention, but being brushed made her feel much better . It must have seemed like a wonderful prize to her after she must have felt she was being somewhat tortured by the bath and blow dryer.

Maggie’s first grooming was the first time my mom and I got to know our little dog. We recognized how she didn’t like her bath, but she was willing to tolerate it because her new family was there. Also, we saw first hand how afraid she is of any kind of electric household appliance as she tried to runaway from the blow dryer. And finally, we saw how we could give some of the love she gives us back to her, by giving her lots of affection and brushing her. Although she might not have been the best dog at the groomer’s, Maggie’s first experience at the dog groomer’s helped everyone in the house learn a lot about our new little family member.

If your dog is an indoors dog, then you it to yourself and to your dog to have him housetrained or housebroken. The positive thing about it is that it is not difficult, nor is it messy, and it does not have to be a struggle. In the Internet alone, there are few, easy to find authorities when it comes to implementing effective and proven housetraining. But the explanations (such as this one) boil down to honest to goodness involvement; the more involved you are in training, the shorter the training period is.

Effective house training dogs is rooted in at least two rules or principles that always get repeated in more or less different ways.

A last word on the impact of the feeding schedule on housebreaking training. Note how the puppies need to visit outside when they wake and within 30 to 40 minutes of their meals. Do your best to be on the dot when you feed the animal; this way, you can actually predictwhen they need to relieve themselves. Work your trips around these patterns.

Many have come to think that housetraining a puppy is essentially bringing around a stack of old newspapers. In any case, expect your puppy to get away with at least one accident in the house. It may be a bit of a disappointment, but this is very much part of housetraining.

1)  It will happen that you will catch the dog eliminating nowhere near the agreed upon spot. What’s to be done? Do something that will interrupt him, like a noise that is meant to startle, but not frighten. Then get the dog to go with you to the bathroom spot, where he will be praised and rewarded if he behaves as you command.

2) Don’t blow your top in case the puppy eliminates in the house.
