Bnefits of Online Dog Supplies

October 31st, 2008 by PetGuru

Pet industry already crossed $40 billion mark and it has increased 20% over the past 5 years. This is the fastest growing industries in the USA. More than 80% of American people own at least one dog. Most of the dog owners take extra care of their dogs with pampering them with pet gifts, toys or pet supplies. Pet owners have a number of options when it comes to buying dog supplies like clothes, food, harness etc.

Dog owners most often visit a local pet store to purchases pet supplies for their family dog. Pet stores are so popular because a shopper can physically examine each item before purchasing it. This gives many pet owners the opportunity to study the quality of pet supply before buying it for their dog.

Online pet store is another choice because it is very convenient for dog owners. You can purchase your much needed pet supplies like dog treats all in a matter of minute’s from online pet stores. People like to purchase from on line pet stores because they do not have to leave their home.

Benefits of online pet stores

  1. Purchasing pet supplies online is all about convenience because dog owners need not to visit a pet store regularly.
  2. Purchasing dog supplies online can help you to save dollar. You can search online to find a store with discounted price.
  3. Traveling to pet store is costly if there is no pet store in your locality. It is cheaper to pay shipping cost rather than traveling to a store which could cost a decent amount of money in gasoline. You can also buty from a store who offers free delivery or charge minimum if you allow a week time to deliver the product
  4. Most of the pet shops provides money back guarantee so you are really not risking your money.
  5. I personally think the greatest benefit to purchasing pet supplies online is the selection of products available because like retail stores they are limited by floor space, staff, store etc. It is easy to find a product using on site search engine.
  6. You can buy cheap products as well as designer products also from an online store.

You can buy dog training ebook, video, collars or dog kennel everything from a pet store.

Common Dog Health Questions: Essential Caring For Your Dog Advice

October 31st, 2008 by KittyKitty

One of the most common dog health questions that people ask is how to know when your dog is very sick and needs veterinary care. The majority of people don’t want to constantly take their dog to the veterinarian, particularly since the cost can be high. Many vets suggest that after you get to know your dog fairly well, it might be best to go with your gut feeling regarding a visit to the veterinarian office.

Some dogs, particularly large breeds are very good at hiding their pain and it may go unnoticed by the owners. If you have one of these tough dogs, a sign that he might be feeling very ill is if he refuses to eat or if he eats significantly less than usual. A significant loss of appetite is an indication to take your dog to the pet.

Typical Questions from the Veterinarian
Spend some time with your dog and see if he looks or behavesacts as if he is depressed. If his appearance has changed, if he is drinking more or less water than usual or maybe you notice a change in his attitude or his lifestyle you might want to take him for a check up. Some typical dog health questions your veterinarian could ask you about your dog might relate to persistent vomiting, a drop in weight and very little desire to play as well as urinating more frequently or having constant diarrhea.

Another typical dog health question asked by dog owners is whether they should have their dog neutered. Male dogs that are neutered typically become less aggressive and the procedure also decreases the possibility of your dog getting prostate cancer and reduces the risk of your dog from getting testicular cancer. With female dogs it significantly lowers the possibility of getting mammary cancer as well as preventing them from getting womb infections and obviously you don’t have to be worried about your dog getting pregnant.

Healthy Diet
What type of food should the dog eat is another commonly asked dog health question. You should give your dog a diet that features quality meats and either no or very little artificial preservatives and which provides quality fats and vegetables and grains. Buying natural or high quality dog food products will improve his health and may extend his life.

Another dog health question vets frequently are asked is how to stop dogs from eating grass. Unfortunately, some dogs often eat grass and then afterwards vomit. Dogs that live in the wild eat various types of vegetation when they eat the contents from the stomach of their prey and your dog might be eating grass as some type of instinctive behavior. In some instances, the grass may not be the cause of vomiting due to the dog already being sick before he ate the grass. If you have dog health questions there are numerous websites that can provide answers and your veterinarian can also provide you with the information you require.

What You Should Know About Poodle Puppies

October 31st, 2008 by PetGuru

Poodle Puppy

Poodle puppies are cute, cuddly, and curly and definitely a pet anyone would want to take home. Poodles make great pets, and have the most fun with them you will need to know as much about poodle puppies so that they are comfortable when you take them home, so read on to see what you should know in order to be a responsible poodle owner.

Whatever poodle breed you decide to buy, you have to be aware that some poodle breeds tend to be somewhat reclusive or anti-social, and can be very unfriendly around strangers, unless of course they are trained. You will have to train your puppies and socialize the poodle puppy by keeping them in an environment that has people around often, this way they won;t be overwhelmed when you take them out or if you have other people around.

You should also make sure that you take your poodle puppies to the vet often for checkups, since poodles tend to have vision problems fairly often. Your poodle’s eyes should be alert and shiny, and if you start to notice a film around the eyes, or if you see that your puppy’s eyes are running often, this could be a sign of cataracts. Treating this condition in the early stages is key, so be sure to tell the vet if you notice that your dog’s vision is a little cloudy. Poodle puppies are also prone to ear infections, as are most other poodles, so be sure to have your puppy’s ears checked at the vet as well; hearing tests, as well as medication may need to be administered, and you should ask your animal doctor about dosages for your puppy as well.

Poodle’s tend to have sensitive skin and you may notice this often, so you have to make sure that some grooming products would not be used for grooming your poodle. It is common to see poodle owners dye their dog’s hair in different colors, or shampoo the fur with expensive shampoos. Be aware however, that the chemicals in some these products could be harmful to your poodle puppies, and this could cause skin irritations and rashes. Further your poodle might develop allergies with such products, so should notice that your poodle is sluggish, or is perhaps often sneezing, then you should leave the grooming to professionals or have them do it in your home.

Plasmacluster Ions – The One & Only Reliable Ionic Air Purifier Against Bird Flu Pandemic Fears?

October 31st, 2008 by PetGuru

In a dramatic press update on 27 August 2008, Sharp Corporation unveiled its latest technological weapon against bird flu! Incorporated in its ionic air purifier, the Plasmacluster Ion Technology (more on this in a later post) has just been scientifically proven to be 99.9% effective in eliminating the bird flu virus known as H5N1.

Every now and then, the press reminds us that bird flu is the prime suspect to cause mankind’s next pandemic. Pandemic sounds terrifying. It is. That’s when a deadly virus turns totally global, in a very negative sense. 50 million people may die in a global pandemic. No way, you say. But its happened before, during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic! That was blamed on the H1N1 virus which was only recently confirmed on 5 October 2005 by the World Health Organization (WHO) to be a bird flu virus.

PANIC STATIONS! PANIC STATIONS?

Not quite, not yet anyway. Statistically, as recorded by WHO as at 10 Sep 2008, “only” 245 people have died from the H5N1 virus. This is since 1996 when the virus first surfaced in China. So what’s the fuss? The greatest nightmare for scientists monitoring the bird flu virus is to see it attain human-to-human transmission capability. As of now, there has been only one probable case of human-to-human transmission recorded in Thailand in September 2004. But if (it seems the virus has not reached the “when” stage) the dreaded virus mutation takes place, you can expect pandemonium on a global scale.

Countries around the globe are conscientiously preparing for the worse (more on this in a later post). At our individual level, we should start doing some homework too.

Ok, so what’s all this got to do with Sharp’s ionic air purifier. Is it not just another ionic air purifier? Yes, because it takes care of the usual pollutants (dust, dirt, smoke, dander, pollen, cuisine odors, pet odors, allergens etc) that contaminate the air that we breathe and live in. If there is really a tested defence shield against a deadly virus, why not? And that is precisely what Sharp is telling us; get the whole package with their Plasmacluster Ion Technology.

If you’re value-conscious like me, the obvious question would be “yes, that makes a whole lot of sense but at what cost”? Sharp claims that it’s at no extra cost! They go so far as to say it may in fact be cheaper than any other ordinary ionic air purifier when measured over 5 years. Now, that’s value for money! How is it possible in this nothing-is-for-free world?

In promoting the Plasmacluster Ionic Air Purifier Model FP-N40CX, Sharp contends that it is definitely better value for money as there is no filter replacement costs for the first 5 years. At US$399, the Sharp model compares favourably against a typical competitor’s ionic air purifier that may cost US$160 upfront but over 5 years cost a total of US$560 due to annual filter replacement costs of US$100 each.

Any feedback on the competitor numbers would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to drop me a note if you have actual numbers.

In the meantime, I will study the Sharp Plasmacluster Ion Technology more closely. The time to research is now, while bird flu is still not quite at pandemic proportions.

Don’t procrastinate. Fear etches itself deep in my psyche. Recall the last disaster movie when you saw people with terror in their eyes, many with the famed N95 face mask covering their noses as they commute to work. But it was no movie but real life in motion in many Asian cities. Those who could not find the scarce N95 face mask could only pray that they were not the next victim of the near-pandemic scenario that swept across Asia. SARS! Four letters that struck terror in Asia. The SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) virus started spreading from Asia, infected 8,096 people around the world, resulting in 774 fatalities. We all know that being well prepared is half the battle won.

Watch this space as we track exciting developments in our pursuit of safe, pure and clean air with nothing more than an ionic air purifier.

Picking The Right Dog Clothes During Winter

October 30th, 2008 by KittyKitty

It is important to keep your dog warm during winter. If you have a small dog like Maltese or Yorkshire Terrier you may want to consider buying some dog clothes to keep at home, for instance like a jacket to help keep them warm. If you think too lightly of this, your dog may prone to being sick.

A lot of dog owners, do not know how to keep their dog warm during the cold winter is a big concern. Luckily for them, there are a few ways to do this. While you choose for an appropriate outerwear for your dog, choose dog clothes that is easy for you to put on and not a struggle for your dog when wearing it. Many dogs are not used to wearing coat or dog clothes so you may need to teach them.

Here’s how: Simply put the coat on for a few hours each day and while having the coat on their body, give them some healthy dog treats. Your dog will slowly accustomed to wearing the coat because they are trained to know that when wearing the coat, you will always have healthy dog treats for them.

When shopping for designer dog clothes, many only chooses outfit that is cute, or nice looking for their dogs. But they do not know the material is actually quite important when choosing an appropriate dog clothes for your dog. When choosing a clothes, find materials that are durable and easy to wash and care for. Or during winter time, look for water resistant materials so that your dog clothes will not get damp and make your dog sick. Another tip is to consider getting dog boots for dogs who that walk a lot because this will help them avoid stepping on ice, snow and salt which will sometimes cause pain to their paws.

It is important to get down your dog’s measurement before you purchase any dog apparel for your dog to ensure proper fit. Know your dog’s measurement and follow the manufacturer’s directions to ensure it fits properly. If it doesn’t, you may need to go through the hassle of returning it to the manufacturer.

There are many other ways to keep your dog warm during winter. For instance, think about putting a warm blanket in their dog bed . You just have to think creatively or if you are still unsure how to, go to a local pet store and ask for advise.

October 30th, 2008 by KittyKitty

Many people think that purchasing pet insurance is a waste of time and money. More so when they are assured that they take good care of their animals and give them all the possible comfort they require. Statistics show that in all probability about one in every three or four pets will have an accident during their life time (which is preciously short as it is) and would require intensive medical care. All this costs a lot of money. Sometimes the pets would be required to be hospitalized and that would add a hefty sum to the medical charges.

Some Facts About Shih Tzu Litter Box Training

October 29th, 2008 by KittyKitty

The Shih Tzu is a proud and regal breed of dog that would prefer to do things their own way rather than listen to any one else, including you. You can imagine that a dog with that kind of an attitude will probably be difficult to train and that includes housebreaking. It takes patience and many Shih Tzu owners turn to Shih Tzu litter box training when regular housebreaking does not work. You may want to give it a little time before you break out the litter box.

Even in the best case scenario a Shih Tzu can take up to six months to learn how to go where you want it to, so if you are only a couple of months into the process and it does not be working you need to be patient. You are going to want to try everything you can to housebreak your Shih Tzu, and allow it all of the time it needs, before you even think about a litter box.
Your Shih Tzu is a very stubborn dog and it does not always associate everything the way you would want it to. To your dog, Shih Tzu litter box training may be an invitation to go to the bathroom anywhere in the house as opposed to just the litter box. This is why you should not give up on the standard housebreaking methods for your Shih Tzu, as litter box training might make the situation much worse.

A Shih Tzu can grow to pretty big sizes even for a toy breed and that can be a big problem if you are considering Shih Tzu litter box training. A larger dog is not going to adapt well to a litter box and could wind up making a huge mess rather than the controlled chaos you are hoping for. Ask your breeder or your vet if they think your Shih Tzu may be too big for litter box training.
If you really want to start Shih Tzu litter box training then place a large litter box in the part of your house that your Shih Tzu has been soiling the most. Praise it profusely when it uses that litter box. but do not punish it when it does not use it. Punishment confuses a Shih Tzu and causes any training already completed to have to be done over. Watch your Shih Tzu and take it to the litter box when it displays the signs of getting ready to go to the bathroom, like sniffing in a spot or circling.

A litter box is not the answer to housebreaking and it can more than likely undo old housebreaking training and prevent any further housebreaking. Use the litter box as a very last resort but have the same dedication to litter box training as you had with housebreaking because this process may take a lot longer than standard housebreaking.

You can use this article as a helpful supplement to your Shih Tzu training. This article also makes a great supplement to dog training books.

Ground-breaking Plasmascluster Ionic Air Purifier Decimates Bird Flu Virus

October 29th, 2008 by PetGuru

On 27 August 2008, Sharp Corporation issued a press release that may someday be recognised as the true beginning of mankind’s war against bird flu! Incorporated in its ionic air purifier, the Plasmacluster Ion Technology (more on this in a later post) has just been scientifically proven to be 99.9% effective in eliminating the bird flu virus known as H5N1.

With increasing regularity, the press reminds us that bird flu is the prime suspect to cause mankind’s next pandemic. Pandemic does not just sound terrifying. It is. That’s when a highly contagious virus goes global, in a very negative sense. It boggles my mind that the 1918 Spanish Flu may have killed 50 million people on earth! That deadly killer flu was confirmed on 5 October 2005 by the World Health Organization (WHO) to be caused by H1N1, a bird flu virus.

If fear is gripping you right now, is it time to PANIC?

Not quite, not yet anyway. Statistically, as recorded by WHO as at 10 Sep 2008, “only” 245 people have died from the H5N1 virus. This is since 1996 when the virus first surfaced in China. So what’s the fuss? A bird flu virus that attains human-to-human transmission capability is the ultimate horror of the scientific community. To the knowledge of WHO, there has been only one probable case of human-to-human transmission recorded in Thailand in September 2004. Don’t be surprised by the global pandemonium in the event that the dreaded virus mutation actually occurs.

Quietly but conscientiously, many countries are preparing for the worse (more on this in a later post). At our individual level, we should start doing some homework too.

Ok, so what has the Sharp ionic air purifier to do with all this. Is it not just another ordinary ionic air purifier? It is ordinary in that it performs the usual functions of the run-of-the-mill air purifier by getting rid of dust, dirt, smoke, dander, pollen, cuisine and pet odours, pollutants, allergens etc. If there is really a tested defence shield against a deadly virus, why not? That’s what Sharp is claiming, get the all-in-one package with their Plasmacluster Ion Air Purifier.

If you’re value-conscious like me, the obvious question would be “yes, that makes a whole lot of sense but at what cost”? According to Sharp, none at all! Sharp asserts that it is cheaper than any other ordinary ionic air purifier when measured over 5 years. Hey, that’s great value for money! But, how is this possible in this nothing-is-for-free world?

Well, in promotional materials, using the Plasmacluster Ionic Air Purifier Model FP-N40CX as the basis, Sharp contends that it is much better value for money as there is no filter replacement costs for the first 5 years. At first sight, the typical competitor’s upfront cost of US$160 looks cheap compared to Sharp’s US$399. But add in the annual replacement filter replacement costs of US$100 and the total outlay for the competing ionic air purifier comes to US$560.

If you have relevant data, be it on Sharp or the competitors, I would greatly appreciate your input. Just email me if you have actual numbers.

My next move would be to seriously investigate the Sharp Plasmacluster Ion Technology. The time to research is now, while bird flu is still not quite at pandemic proportions.

It’ll be way too late when that hits. I have been there. Imagine thousands of frantic people going from drugstore to drugstore looking for the same face mask. The N95 mask was touted as the only effective weapon as a near-pandemic scare gripped Asia. The year was 2003. SARS was a much dreaded acronym. The SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) virus started spreading in Asia and infected 8,096 people around the world, resulting in 774 fatalities. Being well prepared is half the battle won.
